Sydney Small- Blog 6-Personal Reflection About Saying Grace- 11/08/2022
One tradition that my family practices is saying grace before each meal. Regardless of if we are at home or at a restaurant, before we eat, we thank God for the food we are about to eat. It made me think about where our food comes from and a majority of the time it come from the natural sources here on our planet. By thanking God, my family and I are essentially recognizing that He is the reason we are here on this planet and are eating the food that is in front of us. We do not expect anything for thanking God for our food we just want to acknowledge our gratitude for allowing us to be together to enjoy something as simple as food. To me, eating food connects me to the environment and to God because I know that the sources of my food are both God and the environment. I will continue to ask God to bless the food that I have before me because I believe it acknowledges my connection between my religion and the environment. Both my religion and the environment fuel me. Food from the environment fuels me by giving me physical energy which I use to live. The blessings and gratitude I show to God for the food fuels me with spiritual energy that I want to spread through happiness and excitement.
